Eartraining – Detecting Intervals with Song Association

Using familiar melodies to help recognize intervals has been a popular method of ear training. An example would be singing “Here Comes the Bride” in your head in order to identify the interval of a perfect fourth. Figure out intervals in your favorite songs and they will help you figure out intervals in other songs you listen to. This ability of recognizing intervals is a great help when you want to learn a new song. Here is an article on the process. The thing to remember is that you need to chose your own songs that you are familiar with so that you can hear them in your head easily.
