Future Interfaces: Gestures, Light and the BiDi Screen

Future Interfaces: Gestures, Light and the BiDi ScreenReadWrite has just published an article stating MIT is soon to display their brand new amazing interface for manipulating computer images in 3D. Watch the demo video. It senses your hands in front of the screen without cameras or special gloves. You can manipulate what is on screen by moving your hands. Just pretend you are actually touching what is on screen. Amazing. I can see this as an incredible input device for mixing or performing music. You could bring one instrument to the front of the mix just by moving your hands in front of the screen. I wonder if they could ever get it to the point of it being able to recognize the way you play an instrument. Just play the instrument in front of the screen and the software could imitate the way you play. Lots to look forward to, i wonder where it will lead? You gotta love technology.
