Add some spice to your voice readings

18 05 2010

There is often a time in the classroom when you need students to read text for class discussion. If you are like most of us you read it aloud, or the students read it aloud, or the students and you take turns reading aloud, or you just read it to yourselves in silence. To add an interesting twist and are an Apple user you can get the speech software in the preferences folder to read the text using a number of different voices. It is fun and the students perk up and really listen to what is being said. Just highlight the text and turn on the voice in the preferences window.

Another interesting product to translate text to speech by creating mp3 files is a software called GhostReader. It is easy to use.

And another just sent in by Frank Curkovic called Read the Words

And another sent in by John Snowball called Voki
